Report: ViViD FC LIVE at Shinjuku BLAZE 19 Apr

Here is the report by fans of ViViD's 3rd anniversary FC LIVE in Shinjuku BLAZE, 19 April 2012.

The 19th of April marks the birthday of ViViD. To celebrate it, they made a FC-only concert for all the ViViD Colors fanclub members. This third anniversary concert was held at the Shinjuku BLAZE Livehouse. Door opening 17:45, concert start 18:30. Goods pre-sales went up until 17.00 o’clock. If I had to guess, I think there were around 1000 fans… Once inside the Livehouse, one was able to buy goods. There were mostly goods from their Budoukan Live in January, but also two new T-shirts (black or red), a ticket holder, a muffler towel and a wristband that was already sold out.

The concert room was very spacious and the stage wasn’t small either. At 18.30 sharp, the lights went out and the BGM (It was some random background music with Kanye West…) also exchanged its place with the SE. In a very flashy way, the members entered the stage. First of all, Ko-ki came on stage, wearing his pink trousers and a simple T-shirt, dancing around in the middle front of the stage before he finally got behind his drumset. Next one was Iv, who was wearing a white shirt, necktie and a grey waistcoat and he greeted the audience with his smile.

After he went to his bass, Ryoga entered the stage, wearing shirt, simple black jacket and with a little smirk on his face. When he went to his guitar on the left side, Reno came out, with a similar outfit as Ryoga, if I’m not mistaken. The last one to come out was Shin, who had his hair black (My opinion: It suited him!) and also a simple outfit made of jacket, shirt and black trousers. The SE ended, the lights went off again and the first song started. At first I thought it was Akujo♂ Torikki that was being played, but at home I had to realise it wasn’t. So, I don’t know anymore which song it was… Sorry for that.

Next, they played two more songs, during which Iv and Ryoga played their instruments while facing and smiling at each other; the same happened with Reno and Iv. There were also some times, where Iv would suddenly whisper something into Ryogas ear before the two of them were laughing, while playing on stage. When Ryoga and Reno faced each other during one song, they would also give off the feeling of having a chat with each other, followed by a very fun time. Shin also didn’t stand still, but faced the drums from time to time, so he could jerk around with Ko-ki.

The MC followed these three songs. Shin thanked the fans for coming to their 3rd anniversary LIVE and he thanked the audience for simply being here. He shortly talked about their DVD release before they went on with the next song. The next three songs were FAKE, followed by Vanity and Yume~Mugen no Kanata~. (My comment: The only order I could remember because I especially like these three songs.) In this block of songs until the next MC, they also played CRISIS, and three (not sur about the number) songs of their The ViViD Colors album. During the next MC, the following happened:

Shin: So now, we’re three years old. Happy Birthday to ourselves. [The audience applauded and said congratulations.] Well, what do you have to say about our third anniversary? Let’s start with you, Ko-ki.

Ko-ki: Well…. The first thing that comes into my mind when looking back at these three years… is Shin seemingly losing his mobile phone that he was holding in his hand just the moment before… [The audience & band members laughed.] This happens A LOT! He comes to me, saying that he lost his phone, just so I can call him on his phone to find it again.

Shin: *startled* It really happens that often?

Ko-ki: There are at least six times I can remember of very clearly!

Reno: Shin’s always losing things, isn’t he?

Ko-ki: To the point that it’s scary…

Shin: I’m sorry for being such a fussy guy. *bows*

Reno: Ko-ki’s the one that loses the most things right after Shin, right?

Ko-ki: Eeeeh?! That’s not true! Ryoga loses them more often than I do!!!

Ryoga: Isn’t it Reno who also loses lots of things…? [Laughter in the audience.]

Shin: We’re way off the topic… Let’s return. Iv, what do you have to say about our third anniversary?

Iv: … Well… The first thing that comes into my mind is ramen…

Ko-ki: WAIT! I heard “ramen”! *gets up on his feet and grabs the microphone*

Reno: Ooooh, he got up!

Shin&Ryoga: HE STOOD UP!

Ko-ki: Okay, continue. You wanted to talk about ramen, right? But you actually DON’T have the right to talk about it! You prefer curry over ramen after all! The ramen likers are me and Reno.

Iv: … I really do like curry, you know?

Ko-ki: Shall I tell you why you’ll be always losing? Everybody, you all know instant ramen, right? The cup noodles you can eat EVERYWHERE? [Audience says yes.] *turns back to Iv* See? There are cup ramen, but NO cup curry! Therefore, it’s the total LOSS of curry! *says it like a boss* [Everybody started laughing, except for Iv who was at a loss for words.]

Iv: …

Ko-ki: Talking about ramen… I recently downloaded the iPhone app “Ramen Now”. It’s actually quite handy! Whenever I feel like eating ramen in an area I don’t really know, I take out my phone, type the area’s name into this app and PLING, all the ramen places near me are being shown!

Reno: It actually works… *laugh* Like at the last photoshooting, I said “I wanna eat ramen…” and then this guy was taking his phone out and after five minutes, he told me all the places we could eat ramen together. [Everybody laughes again.]

Shin: Somehow, this has nothing to do with the talk about our 3rd anniversary anymore… Ryoga, you say something!

And then Ryoga, Reno and Shin talked about ViViD’s birthday and today’s live in a more serious manner. Again, they thanked their fans for being here. Finally, they continued with their concert and the very next song was TAKE OFF. Following this one song were the other songs of their The ViViD Colors album, with Kimikoi being declared as their last song. Shin said that it was his most favourite song and that he really loves it. After this song, Reno, Ryoga and IV threw some picks into the crowd before a staff member suddenly told them to stop there (My comment: I think it was like this…)

Then a cake and some champagne were brought on stage. It was apparently a gift from the fans and the boys were very surprised by it. They drank the champagne and then went backstage alltogether. With the room being dark again, the fans shouted for an encore, steadily, without resting. Ten minutes passed before ViViD re-appeared on stage. Iv, Ryoga and Ko-ki were wearing the black T-Shirt while Shin and Reno were wearing the red T-Shirt. Reno was carrying a box that was for the giveaway of the personal belongings.

Suddenly, a staff member handed Ko-ki a ridiculously big paper bow tie and he was forcing it on Reno. In the end, Reno was standing there with this box and this huge bow tie around his neck, causing the audience and the band members to burst out in laughter. (My comment: It REALLY did look strange…) Then he explained what was going to happen now. Every member would give away two items to the people that were chosen by lottery. So, there would be ten lucky winners that could get the items after the concert ended, by showing their tickets to the staff. The following took place:

Reno: Okay, let’s start with Ko-ki. Please give a short explanation of your item before the lottery.

Ko-ki: Well then, my first item are my drumsticks from the rehearsal for January’s Budoukan! [Then he drew a number.] And the next item…

Reno: Not so fast! Let’s make two rounds. So, you’re now on standby until your turn. Iv, you’re next.

Iv: My item is this here… I think the girls won’t like it much, though…

Reno: *laugh* A barbell?!

Iv: Yes. It’s 1kg here, not very heavy. I use it to train my upper body and arms.

Reno: Oh, yeah. I see. *touching Iv’s muscles* Okay, then draw a number! [In the end, it really was a girl who got it.] Next, Ryoga. A short explanation of your item please!

Ryoga: (My comment: At this point, I have to say apologise… I can’t seem to remember at all, what the first item of Ryoga was… So, please forgive me.)

Reno: Shin, your turn!

Shin: Okay. My item is this Final Fantasy game for the PSP!

Reno: *laugh* Shin, not everyone owns a PSP!

Shin: Sure they do! You have a PSP, right? *asks the audience* [Audience says yes.] See? And the game even includes my save data!

Reno: Ooooooh! *impressed*

Iv: Wait a minute… The data is actually saved on the memory stick, isn’t it? [Some people of the audience agree.]

Shin: Oh… Well then, it doesn’t include my saving data then, but at least it has my character’s name!

Reno: What is his name?

Shin: S-H-I-N. *spells it slowly*

Reno: S… H… I… N… … Oh, Shin! Well then, draw a happy winner then! [Shin draws.]

Shin: Okay, now’s your turn then, Reno.

Reno: Yup. My item is this cap here.

Ryoga: The cap you’re always wearing… You even came with this cap to the Livehous today!

Reno: Yes… I couldn’t think of anything better, so it’s this cap now. *draws a number while Shin was holding the box* [After he drew, he took the box back and went on addressing Ko-ki.]

Ko-ki: My second item is something more personal. It’s this perfume here that I use a lot! *opens bottle and sprays one time* It really smells nice!

Reno: Yeah it does. Now, give it away to a lucky person! [I think it was a girl who received this item.] Iv, your second item please.

Iv: I think not many of you will like it… *shows an orange barbell now* [Everybody was laughing at this point.]

Reno: It’s the same as before!

Iv: No, it isn’t. It’s the same weight, 1kg, but this one is being used to train the muscles in the legs. [Laughter.]

Reno: Whatever… Ryoga, your next item please!

Ryoga: I don’t know what to say, but it’s this lipbalm here… I didn’t know what to give away and so I bought it this morning and only used it once today.

Reno: Ooooooh! So, it’s an indirect kiss! *smirk* Please draw somebody!

Ryoga: It’s number 70! Number 70, anybody here? [For a long time, nobody was responding, but then the person right in front me rose the hand. (My comment: I was standing in the back of the room, quite a distance until the stage.)] Oh, there’s the winner!

Reno: Are you a girl or a boy?

Winner: A boy… [At this point, Shin nearly fell on the floor laughing, Reno couldn't hold himself back either, Ryoga was all like "Oh, I'm so sorry...", Iv just had this "Impossible!"-gaze all over his face and Ko-ki had a fun time enjoing the fact that a boy won this lipbalm. And the audience also burst out in laughter.]

Reno: So, there’s no indirect kiss then… You may change it with one of the female fans here, maybe. *still laughing* But well, let’s continue. Shin, it’s your turn!

Shin: Okay. First of all, I have a story to tell. When I first heard of this giveaway, I thought of giving my precious necklace by JUSTIN’S away. [Audience and band were impressed.] Yeah, but in the end, it’s only this phone charger here… since I forgot the necklace at home…

Reno: SHIN! There you go with this forgetful attitude of yours! [Reno and the other ViViD members were teasing Shin.]

Shin: I know, I know! If I didn’t live this far away, I would’ve actually gone home to take it, but since I AM living far away, I wouldn’t have made it back on time for the concert, if I went back home! I’m so sorry!!!

Reno: How about you give away this beautiful belt of yours. *shows at the belt*

Shin: … No, I’m sorry. This one is too precious to me. But I promise to give the necklace away on our fourth anniversary!

Reno: Let’s see if you can actually keep this promise… But well, let’s give an explanation to your item then.

Shin: It’s a phone charger for DoCoMo and au! [Somebody of the audience asked, if it's also compatible with Softbank.] (My comment: DoCoMo, au and Softbank are the three big mobile phone companies in Japan.) Well, I don’t know… [Somebody of the crowd then shouted that Softbank and DoCoMo have the same adapters.] I also signed this charger!

A Fan: Is it also usable with the iPhone?

Shin: *smile* Of course it is! [And then he drew a number, leaving only Reno's last item now.]

Reno: I have to admit that my item isn’t very special… It’s the pajama shirt I’ve worn up until this morning, signed on the back. [Some fans were freaking out.]

Ryoga: It even smells like you! *laugh* You think it’s okay to give away a worn out and not even properly washed shirt of you?

Reno: … Yeah, it’s a bit rude, isn’t it…? Well then, I’m sorry for being rude. [Fangirls didn't care about that... And a girl actually won his shirt. When realizing she won, she screamed incredibly loud.] Well then, we have one item left, don’t we. Iv, you have another item.

Iv: (My comment: Sorry… I was too far away to see what the item was and I didn’t really understand the explanation and the Japanese word for it… Don’t be angry with me.)

Reno: Okay, now that everything’s been given away, let’s continue with the Encore!

And then the encore started. I don’t know the titles of the songs anymore, but at one song, a random guy from the audience was dragged on to the stage and he was given a microphone. He then rocked the stage with the other members, sang along with Shin and was having lots of fun there. Reno went near him once and it looked like he wanted to confirm if this guy was actually singing along or not. When he confirmed, he had a satisfied smile on his lips and returned to his place on the stage. When this song finished, the guy returned to the audience.

The ViViD members were gathering then, since it was their last song, but when Reno was doing the MC, he suddenly stopped and the boys looked at each other in confusion. They started a discussion, asking the audience for forgivness at the same time. The boys were looking into the backstage area very often, Ryoga was doing some drumer’s movements, Ko-ki too, Reno and Iv did guitar/bass riffs in the air and this whole confusingly discussion went on for a few minutes. And then, Reno asked the manager again and said into the microphone: “Is it really okay for us to play REAL, manager?”

In the end, they got their manager’s consent and after having said sorry to the audience again, they all hastily went back to their instruments and were talking to each other using hand signs again. It seemed to me that them playing REAL wasn’t planned at all… And therefore, they had no rehearsal for it, so that it was now a little bit of a chaotic situation. Nevertheless, the song was performed quite well for it being their first time. Shin went near Reno during this song and placed his hand on Reno’s thigh. It seemed to me that it tickled because Reno’s face was all like “Stop it!” and Shin laughed.

The two guitar solos were also very impressive. Reno was very confused during the whole performance. His whole face expression was showing how confused he was and he had to look at his bandmates quite often, just to see when the solos were coming up. When Ryoga played his solo, Reno showed at him and made some weird grimaces. At another point during this song, Shin and Ryoga danced with each other (My comment: It looked HOT!). And like this, their last song came to an end. The ending of the LIVE was marked by everyone grabbing each others’ hands and jumping up.

The concert ended at around 21.00 o’clock and the people could only leave the room very slowly. As for me, it took me around fifteen to twenty minutes to get out. It was a bit confusing as for why it would take so long… At the staircase, I knew the reason. All the members of ViViD were lined up on the stairs (My comment: The Livehous was underground.) and double high-fived with every fan who wanted it. They were all like “Thanks for coming!” or “Let’s meet soon again!”. All of them were smiling so happily and one could see that they enjoyed it really much. And so, the 3rd anniversary concert was finished.
