ViViD, a band that has been gathering attention from fans of various genres. To this band, year 2013 must have been a year of challenges, as among other activities ViViD went around the country with a tour that was the longest they have had, consisting of total of 41 lives. With this challenge they have gained even more popularity. Decorating the last of this year 2013, they held 2 concerts at Zepp DiverCity with different themes on both days. The theme of the first days was "scars". They would be performing this kind of songs and that kind of songs from among all songs they have released up until today, making it a very juicy live for both fans that have been following them since the start, and to fans that have just recently started to take an interest in them. First we will bring you a report of the first day.
A moment after the lights in the venue had turned off, the spotlights were turned on and all the members were already standing in their places. The intro for the popular number of their indie days, "69-II" echoed to the venue. After this rock tune came "Re:Load", that is well recognized for the guitar riffs in the beginning. Smoke rose from around Ko-ki's drum set.
"Let me hear your voices, Tokyo!"
The audience waved their towels to the rhythm of "BLUE". It was their first live in half a year, and maybe because of that the unity of within the venue on this day was absolutely awesome.
During the fourth song "Kimikoi" the whole audience danced to the rhythm. As the song ended, the solo time for the instruments started. Bass solo after drum solo, and from there guitars and head banging. After warming up the audience to it's fullest, they continued on with 2 songs, "risk" and "RIDE on time".
"It's not enough! Come on!"
After Shin's words, they played "ANSWER" and "Trail of tears". Heart-wrecking melody and Shin's soft voice echoed in the venue with a beautiful starry sky made of lights in the background. Everything was beautiful.
During "Yume no michishirube", a gradation in the colors of a rainbow lit up the back of the stage. With the next song the atmosphere of the venue changed in a moment, as they moved on to "W.B.A" and "Distance of mind". Before they continued on to "FAKE", there was a small break and electronic SE played in the venue.
The encore started with two good old songs, "Setsunabito" and "Hoshi no ame". The third song was "Take-off", which was released as their indie debut single 4 years ago. It was a performance from which you could feel how much they had grown during these 4 years.
Since the concert was right after Christmas, during the encore they talked about their memories of Christmas 2013. Reno went to an onsen alone, Ryoga had his guitar maintenance done, Ivu went to a beauty salon and Ko-ki went to pick up the instruments he had ordered from a instrument store. During this talk, the one who talked of a slightly sad memory was Shin. "I was sitting in a ramen restaurant full of couples, wearing a jersey meant for running and eating a big sized ramen alone."
In the end, they also did some backstage talk.
"I was thinking of wearing a Santa Claus costume to the encore, but you know, the first song of the encore was "Setsunabito", right? I thought it would be a bit impropriate to wear a Santa Claus costume and sing a surreal ballad like that. But maybe I should do it next year? If I do, will everyone come?" (Shin)
After the MC they played the song that is very popular even among the fans - "Dear". During the song the members stopped playing and the voices of fans singing could be heard clearly. The hall was filled with warm atmosphere as the loud voices of the fans echoed in the venue. Wishing the warmth would continue to the next day, the curtains of the stage closed for the first day.
