CD Review: ViViD - 光-HIKARI- (MJP)

After their last release "ANSWER", ViViD went around the country with the longest tour in their history, consisting of a total of 41 concerts. Putting together everything they learned on their tour, after almost a year since their last CD release, they released "光-HIKARI-" on 2014/02/05 as a sign for their new start. Before the release itself, the title song of the single had been gaining popularity as the opening theme for the popular TV anime "-MAGI- The Kingdom of Magic" and also holds the spot of being an ice breaker for their 2nd full album "THE PENDULUM" to be released on 2014/02/26.

The title song "光-HIKARI-" starts off with the chorus and a strong rhythm, making it easy catch the rhythm of the song from the very beginning. Shin's smooth voice matched with the bright and catchy melody make the song stay in your head very easily, and after the first seconds you can already find yourself moving your body to the melody. The lyrics are very ViViD-like, full of hope and ambition to the future. This is a perfect song for people who are about to take a step towards their dreams and to the ones who have decided to leave their dark past behind and start reach to the future. Maybe this song can become your inspiration for fulfilling your dreams!

The coupling song "OVER THE LIMIT" is a bit harder than the title song of the single. It starts with heavy guitar riffs, bringing out a whole new side of Shin's smooth vocals. Catchy drums and deep bass combined with the heavy guitars create the sound ViViD is very known for. Even though the overall feeling of the song is quite heavy, they bring out their originality with spicing up the song's instrumental part without relying only on the vocals. For "光-HIKARI-" the vocals are the main appeal point of the song, but for "OVER THE LIMIT", you can't stop listening to the instruments.

Make sure to check out the single and stay tuned for the full album to be released later this month!
