ViViD Live Performance at Sundown Festival 2011, Singapore

Sundown Festival is an annual music festival held in Singapore, focusing on East-Asian music. They have been bringing Korean and Japanese artists to the country before and this year they added Taiwanese to their list. Last year they invited the Japanese bands SuG and LM.C and successfully drew the Singaporean fans of Japanese rock music together.

As for this year, the event was held in F1 Pit Area, Marina Promenade, Singapore. The one and only Japanese artist who got the chance to perform at the event was ViViD. The band arrived in Singapore two days before the event - warmly welcomed by their fans.
What incidents happened during their stay in Singapore? What kind of performance did they show? Read through out this report to find out!

Singapore, November 25th 2011

It was already the rainy season in Singapore and the rain showered the small yet modern country since the early morning.

However, it was the shopping mall called Square 2 in Novena area, where many people had already gathered for the opening fan-meeting with three of the total of five performers of Sundown Festival and ViViD was one of them.

The fan-meeting event was scheduled to start at 5.30 PM and it started right on time. ViViD was the second performer to appear during the fan-meeting event.

From the second level of the mall, people were cheering; this was exactly where the members appeared. Wearing the outfit of their latest single "FAKE" one by one, between the bodyguards, Reno (Gt), Ko-Ki (Dr), Ryoga (Gt), Shin (Vo), and Iv (Ba) took the escalator to go to the first level, where the fan-meeting was going on.
All cameras were directed at them. Some fans raised the posters they brought themselves and all of ViViD's fans were cheering out loud toward them: some of them calling the names of Shin, Reno, Ryoga, Iv and Ko-ki, while some others were just screaming excitedly.

The ViViD members took their place on stage. As the MC of the fan-meeting event introduced them, the fans started to sing "Happy birthday" to Ryoga who had his birthday on November 22nd. Ryoga blushed, as he might not have though it would turn out that way since his Birthday had already passed, but still he looked thankful and the fans did what they did full-heartedly.

Next an autograph session was held for the fans who were lucky enough to win the lottery for getting their signatures. When it was done, the ViViD members left the stage amongst the fans screaming. The members waved to them and Ko-Ki did the same thing he did when he had appeared - making a heart-mark with both of his hands above his head while Reno stuck out his tongue while smiling. They all looked happy with the reaction the fans gave them.

Singapore, November 26th 2011

The day had finally come. F1 Pit Area, in Marina Promenade, Singapore was also showered with rain. Since the sun was still high in the sky, the fans were already lining up, waiting for the time the gate would open. When they finally did opened the many fans looked quickly from where best to watch their favorite artists.

ViViD's fans who went there were lucky because there was a stand specially to sell ViViD merchandise like CDs, a Lip-balm phone strap, autographed posters for their Nippon Budokan one-man, and towels. While waiting, some fans took a look at the stand and grabbed some stuff.

At 8:00PM the event finally started, and after two awesome opening acts prepared by the committee, the MCs asked the fans to call for ViViD. Finally the band got onto the stage as they were the first artists to perform that night. The lights on the stage were still turned off, with only their silhouettes showing.

Ko-ki was behind his drum set while Reno, Shin, Iv, and Ryoga stood in front of the drum set, their backs turned on the audience.

"Are you ready Singapore?" Shin shouted in English, replacing the "are you ready?" original opening line of "夢」~ムゲンノカナタ~" (Yume~Mugen no Kanata~) song, as his band mates started the music of "夢」~ムゲンノカナタ~" (Yume~Mugen no Kanata~) with their musical instruments.

The fans replied with loud cheers. Shin, Reno, Ryoga, and Iv diffused to their usual respective positions. They were wearing the "FAKE" outfits just like at the fan-meeting event the day before, but as for Reno, he didn't wear the outer so that he was seen with the sleeveless black inner.

Without a break, they played the second song of the night. The song was one of the coupling songs on their latest single which was called "カケラ" (kakera). The fans cheered yet louder on Reno's guitar solo part.
Giving the fans some seconds to breathe, Shin shouted "Singapore" so many times and the fans responded with cheers.

"Singapore! We are ViViD!" Shin introduced the band in English, as the event was also attended by people who didn't know them yet.

"Singapore! Let's bring it out!" Shin shouted, the fans replied with "Yeah!" Once again Shin shouted, but this time louder, "Singapore! Let's bring it out!" Then he introduced the next song "Crisis."
During the song, it was clearly seen that Ko-ki looked very hyped-up, he head banged in tune and rhythm.

"Last!" Shin shouted after finishing "Crisis." The band started the intro of next song, "risk."

"Jump! Jump!" Shin provoked the crowd, so they responded by jumping many times. Shin jumped on his spot, raising one of his arms to the sky while watching the crowd responded to him.

"ViViD deshita!" was the line Shin shouted after the song ended, before they left the stage, waving to the crowd.

MCs appeared on stage to ask "Was that enough!?" and the audience screamed "ViViD!!" out loud.

The MCs asked the fans to call ViViD for an encore, so the fans did with all of their might, wishing that the ViViD members would come on to the stage and play more songs.

The wish was granted and the five men in black suits took their positions once again on stage. They looked pleased.

"OK Singapore, this is the encore. Come on Singapore!" Shin shouted in English and the fans screamed. Both ViViD and their fans were more than ready for the encore.

Ryoga stood in his spot, looking sharply at the audience while his fingers were busy dancing on the guitar's strings, starting the intro of the encore song. By the tune, fans were able to guess what song they would play, it was the intro of the single that was released on November 9th, "FAKE." The crowd were cheering loudly by the intro, ready to listen to the song performed live.

"Arigatou!" was the last word Shin said on stage of Sundown Festival, before then leaving once again. This time the ViViD members left the stage for good.

They only appeared on stage once again before ending the event, together with the other performers and the MCs.

ViViD were the only rock band that night, therefore they were different and attractive to the new audience. Fans of ViViD who were there and witness Sundown Festival were totally overwhelmed by ViViD's music and charisma. There were not only ViViD fans, who came to the event, but also people who didn't know them yet. Surely, ViViD would gain new fans after their amazing and energetic performance.

ViViD still have so many things in store to show. They will release a new single "message" on January 2012. Make sure to keep your eyes on them!

Their performance that night was just a slight view that could amaze you as they still have more to show on their first performance in Nippon Budokan. The tickets and travel package to the show, for overseas fans, are still available, make sure you are one of so many other fans who witness the important moment for them.
